Founded in 1977, the Conde Cavaliers open the downtown Mobile parading season. Members proudly point out that they held a ball and a parade in their first year.

The organization is named after the celebrated French general, Prince de Conde, for whom Fort Conde in downtown Mobile was named. It's a large group, and these gents always like to throw.

One of the group's four permanent floats, The Conde Cavalier Express, is an impressive, self-propelled, three-unit train.

This year, the Condes will roll on February 15 at 6:30 p.m.  with 16 floats by The Royal Artists. Their theme will be Carnivale Internationale.
