Brand new in 2017, the Mobile Mystical Friends will this year parade under its own banner for the first time. This is the first year the group will have its own parading permit, as opposed to the previous two years when it "shared" a permit with the Mobile Mystical Revelers.

Founded by Chuck Hall, MMF is not a mystic society. It’s a parading group that, much like the Mobile Mystical Revelers, eschews much of the structure and bylaws of the average mystic society. “I built it on the concept known as KISS,” Chuck said with a laugh. “That means Keep It Simple, Stupid.”

The Mystical Friends swelled to a membership of 160 in about 90 days. The group is co-ed, and Chuck said he believes that has been the main attraction. “So many people want to ride with their spouses,” he said.

The Mystical Friends will roll on February 23, after the Mobile Mystics and the Mystical Revelers. Expect 12 floats, most of them rented from the Pharaohs.

According to police department rules, because MMF will have its own permit, the group can brand the parade with banners and such, giving the name of the group.
