Order of Olympia

A brand new ladies organization, OOO held its first Mardi Gras ball in 2020, and this will be the group's first-ever parade.

The group's web site says, "Seeing a need for diversity and nonprofit work in this area, we formed our organization to provide sensible solutions.

"We've consistently grown since then, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community of beautiful goddesses."

As we wrote in the 2021 issue of Mobile Mask magazine, the President of OOO said that "diversity" means exactly what you think it means. "The organization currently has Black and white members," the Mask wrote. "That does not make OOO unique, but it's still a small club."

For this year, at least, and possibly next year, Olympia is not eligible for its own parade permit. That's why the organization is "sharing" the Knights of Mobile permit or parading - technically - as part of KOM.

And that's why OOO will not show up on any official city of Mobile parade schedule. But, believe us, they'll be there, the afternoon of February 26, right behind KOM in six floats rented from the Mobile Mystics. The OOO theme this year will be Hera. Costumes are by Roma Etheridge.
